The Canadian Patient Safety Institute, a nonprofit national organization, established by federal, provincial and territorial Ministers of Health, launched a national hand hygiene campaign in 2007 entitled "STOP! Clean Your Hands!"

In 2009 and 2010 the campaign has evolved into a comprehensive safety strategy and experienced a complete update and redesign of most of the materials supporting the effort.  Canada's Hand Hygiene Challenge: STOP!
