The Canadian ICU Collaborative is a national group of interdisciplinary critical care and improvement professionals focused on improving patient care and safety for critically ill patients. They help teams apply the best scientific evidence to close the gap between what is known and what is practiced.
ICU physicians founded the Collaborative in 2003. Assisted by improvement science experts, they brought together 12 multidisciplinary teams from eight centres that shared a commitment to making significant and rapid improvements on a number of topics. Since then, more than 100 frontline teams from 50 centres have been engaged in this work.
The Canadian ICU Collaborative provides dedicated support to all Safer Healthcare Now! teams enrolled in any ICU-related interventions. Current initiatives include:
